Our new Director of Programs brings deep roots in community and equity work

We’re so excited to announce that after 3 months as the interim Director of Programs, Jackie Murphy, formerly a Program Officer at The Collins Foundation, has officially moved into the role of Director of Programs.

Jackie joined the Foundation in 2018 with 20 years of experience working for youth programs focused on student success for youth of color and from underserved communities. This work included serving as Executive Director for Airway Science for Kids, Inc., as After-School Manager at Self-Enhancement, Inc., and director for first generation college bound programs at Heritage University.

Raised by her Filipino grandparents until the age of 6, Jackie immigrated to the U.S to live with her father, an Air Force Sergeant, spending most of her time overseas in Germany before moving back stateside to Shreveport, LA.  At the age of 16, Jackie moved to the Pacific NW, establishing Portland  as her “homebase” for eight years before moving to Yakama, WA for 12 years and returning to Portland in 2009. Jackie lives in NE Portland and is blessed with a beautiful blended family including seven children (five girls and two boys), two Lolababies, and a passionate and driven husband and father, Kory.

“Jackie was an obvious choice for the Director of Programs position,” said CEO Carol Cheney. Jackie is a community builder at her core - she has built solid relationships with so many of our grantee and foundation partners. Not a week goes by when I haven’t heard someone mention how much they appreciate and respect Jackie!”
