Welcome The Collins Foundation's New CFO Emilie Cortes

In March, we officially welcomed Emilie Cortes as The Collins Foundation’s new Chief Financial Officer. Emilie had been serving as our interim CFO since August 2023, and we were fortunate that she has decided to become our permanent CFO.  

 

Emilie is a financial professional and entrepreneur with over 25 years of finance, accounting, investment, and operations experience across both for-profit and nonprofit organizations. Her experience spans management accounting and budgeting, financial planning and analysis, HR and talent management, risk management (legal & insurance), mergers and acquisitions valuations, institutional and philanthropic investment management, and investment banking transaction management. Emilie has managed all aspects of finance, accounting, treasury, and HR for multiple organizations. Most recently, Emilie worked as Interim CFO of Presidio Graduate School, where she managed accounting and HR staff and the audit and tax preparation through a leadership transition. Prior to that, she served as CFO for 4 years of Toniic, a global nonprofit with diverse revenue streams. She has held two CEO roles in small for-profit service industry businesses - one domestic and one abroad. 

Emilie holds Chartered Financial Analyst and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst designations. She earned an MBA in Finance from UC Berkeley and graduated first in her class with a BS in International Business from American University in Washington, DC.  She is a member of the CFA Society of Portland.  Emilie serves as Treasurer and Chair of the Investment Committee at the Compton Foundation based in San Francisco.
