The Collins Foundation awarded 35 single- and multi-year grants totaling $1,542,761 to Oregon nonprofits at the February meeting of the Trustees.
Arts
Hand2Mouth Theatre – $5,000 to produce “Time, a Fair Hustler,” an original play exploring the evolution of Portland’s at-risk, homeless, and LGBTQ youth culture
Metropolitan Youth Symphony – $12,000 to develop musicianship through concerts and conduct outreach to low-income schools in the Portland area
Oregon Repertory Singers – $7,500 to hire a new executive director to manage choral music education and performances in Portland
Portland Youth Philharmonic – $15,000 to provide education and outreach programs for young musicians and school audiences in the Portland metropolitan area
Ross Ragland Theater– $10,000 to provide outreach and arts education programs for underserved rural children and youth in the Klamath Basin region
Siletz Bay Music Festival – $6,000 to support Summer Festival staffing, concerts, and community outreach to rural audiences and visitors to the Lincoln City area
Umpqua Valley Arts Association – $24,000 over three years to support operations and programs promoting arts education and art appreciation for residents and students in rural Douglas County

Enterprise Public Library – $ 50,000 to construct an addition and install a lift to provide full library access to individuals with mobility issues in rural Wallowa County
City of Halsey – $ 10,800 to convert a former City Hall into a public library for residents of rural Linn County
Liberty Restoration – $ 15,000 to complete restoration on the second floor of the historic Liberty Theater to enhance functionality for performers and audiences in rural Clatsop County
RASIKA Society for Arts of India – $7,000 to produce an original multidisciplinary dance performance that introduces traditional East Indian dance forms and culture to Portland area audiences

Bustin’ Barriers – $8,000 to provide adaptive sports and arts activities and socialization for children with disabilities and their families in the greater Portland area
J Bar J Youth Services – $15,000 to provide Big Brothers Big Sisters community-based mentoring for at-risk youth in Deschutes, Crook, and Jefferson counties
Northwest Family Services – $50,000 to increase staff positions to implement a curriculum in middle and high schools to prevent human trafficking in Portland
p:ear – $75,000 over two years to hire an education coordinator to expand educational programs for homeless and marginalized youth in Portland through a challenge grant

Benton Furniture Share – $12,000 to increase staffing levels to expand furniture redistribution to vulnerable, low-income households in Linn and Benton counties and surrounding rural areas
Clackamas Service Center – $30,000 to expand food and wraparound social services for low-income individuals and families in Clackamas County through a challenge grant
CODA – $104,645 remodel a facility to expand treatment services for adults with substance abuse and mental health issues in the greater Portland area
Grow Portland– $20,000 to transform three unused urban properties into community gardens to serve low-income and communities of color in East Portland
Native American Youth and Family Center – $400,000 to support culturally specific leadership programs involving African American, African Immigrant and Refugee, Asian/Pacific Islander, Latino, Native American, and Slavic organizations in the greater Portland area, and program administration by the Coalition of Communities of Color
Reaching Our Community – $23,000 over two years to add a .5FTE administrative assistant position to support food pantry operations for low-income families, housebound individuals, and seniors in rural Josephine County
Rebuilding Together Portland Oregon – $5,000 to provide free home repair for low-income homeowners in Portland, targeting individuals with disabilities, the elderly, and veterans
Rebuilding Together Washington County – $5,000 to provide free home repair for low-income homeowners in Washington County, targeting individuals with disabilities, the elderly, and veterans
Saving Grace Imagine Life Without Violence – $20,000 to support a lethality protocol to provide on-call and follow-up services to individuals at high risk for escalation of domestic violence in Central Oregon
Special Olympics Oregon – $75,000 over two years to implement a year-round fitness and nutrition initiative for individuals with intellectual disabilities
St. Andrew Legal Clinic – $25,000 to provide access to legal services for low-income working adults and families in Multnomah, Washington, Clackamas, Columbia, and Yamhill counties
Education
Salem-Keizer Coalition for Equality – $60,000 over three years to expand early learning and parent engagement programs for low-income Latino families with young children in the Salem-Keizer School District
ScienceWorks Hands-On Museum – $75,000 to add one classroom and renovate an existing classroom for K-12 science education programs in rural Southern Oregon
Environment
Leach Garden Friends – $82,000 over three years to hire a .75FTE volunteer coordinator to expand and diversify the volunteer corps with representatives from local Vietnamese, Latino, and Slavic communities to assist with the construction of a new botanical garden.
Wild Salmon Center – $20,000 to create and implement a replicable model to ensure the health of wild coho ecosystems while sustaining working timber and agricultural lands in Oregon’s coastal areas
Health and Science
Healthy U – $24,936 to expand fitness and nutrition classes, and health-promoting events for low-income residents and individuals with disabilities and/or compromised health in rural Illinois Valley
Planned Parenthood Health Services of Southwestern Oregon – $50,000 to train staff to implement technology and expand reproductive and primary care services to more low-income and/or newly insured youth and adults, and members of LGBTQ and Hispanic communities in Southwestern Oregon
Saint Alphonsus Medical Center - Ontario – $32,880 to purchase and equip a medical van for nutrition and health education, health screenings, and outreach to low-income residents in rural Malheur County
Southwest Community Health Center – $25,000 to support programs and operations providing medical services for low-income and uninsured individuals in Southwest Portland and Hillsboro
Religion
Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon – $150,000 to present the 2015 Collins lecture, support operations, and engage faith communities statewide in service to culturally diverse, at-risk youth, adults, and families struggling with poverty, homelessness, and food insecurity, through a challenge grant
